Former foreign minister Natwar Singh was on Tuesday suspended from primary membership of the Congress party. Singh has also been issued a show cause notice asking him for reasons why he should not be suspended from the party.

The party also served show cause notice asking him to explain the notice for privilege motion given by him in the Rajya Sabha against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for leakage of Pathak committee report.

The decision was taken during the Congress Disciplinary Action Committee meeting on Tuesday night. The meeting was held to discuss action against Natwar Singh in wake of Justice R S Pathak Inquiry report on Iraqi Oil-for-Food scam.
