Only Passengers To Be Allowed On Platforms

To avoid any further tragedy after the Mumbai bomb blasts, the Railway ministry is finalizing plans to introduce strict security measures on railway stations by keeping away non-passengers from entering the platforms and installation of CCTV's amid other security checks.
 
 
 Speaking at the inaugurating the country's first multi-modal transport system (MMTS) at NSC Bose International Airport in Kolkata, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav said that according to new plans only bonafide passengers will be allowed on the platforms. Seeing-off will have to take place outside.
 
 
 Other security steps would include installation of close circuit televisions inside the stations for round-the-clock vigil, installation of metal detectors at all entry points and an increase in the dog squads to ensure better security check on carriage and railway property, he said.
