SC cancels Petrol Pump Dealerships

By Network on January 12,2007

In an attempt to crack down upon the illegal allotment of petrol pumps, the Supreme Court today confirmed its interim order canceling several allotments of petrol pumps, LPG and kerosene outlets most of which were allotted by the previous NDA regime.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal said that those allotments which were cancelled on the basis of the report of its committee will have to close their outlets within three months.

The court’s earlier interim order was on the basis of a report by the two-member committee appointed to look into the procedure adopted by the dealer selection boards for approving the allotments after a reported expose in 2002.
