The famous Beating retreat ceremony performed by BSF and Pakistan Rangers at the Indo-Pak check post at Wagah which attracted thousands of people from both sides of the border is all set to change as both sides have mutually decided to abandoned aggressive postures adopted during the ceremony.
Experts believe that restructuring of the aggressive marching drill by India is a move to enhance new confidence building measure aimed at improving ties between the hostile neighbors.
Until recently, the drill was a show of force, with thousands of tourists watching soldiers exchange belligerent gestures including glaring at each other and marching aggressively by lifting their legs to chest-levels and bringing them down with a loud thud.
According to BSF officials, the drill performed earlier was not the correct drill but a kind of drama enacted on both sides of the border.
The re-fashioned Wagah parade comes ahead of the resumption of peace talks on November 14. The talks were put on hold following the July train bombings that killed 186 people in Mumbai.
