Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today told a women's delegation that he was hopeful of tabling the much-awaited bill providing for 33 per cent reservation for women in legislature in the next session of Parliament.

A delegation of women's representatives led by NCW Chairperson Girija Vyas demanded an early passage of the bill that has been pending for nearly a decade. The delegation also submitted a memorandum to this effect to the Prime Minister.

Vyas is likely to hold consultations with leaders of all political parties, including Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, to demand that they should ensure early passage of the Women's Reservation Bill.

The meeting with the Prime Minister comes a day after NFIW culminated its 17-day-long demonstration at Jantar Mantar here demanding passage of the bill.
