Due to non payment of bills, electricity supply to 'Ramgiri,' the official residence of Maharashtra
Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh in Nagpur, was disconnected by
electricity company officials. He has bills due s 1.20 lakh
(Rs 120,000).
The
action comes as a part of a drive to recover dues from defaulters,
particularly state government offices, sources at the MSEDC said,
adding that the officials are also disconnecting power supply to some
offices situated in the Collectorate.
Sources said that the
Public Works Department (PWD), which maintains 'Ramgiri' has failed to
pay dues of Rs 85,000 and Rs 35,000, respectively, of two electricity
meters at the chief minister's bungalow.
The spokesman of the company said that Rs 45 lakh (Rs 4.5 million) as dues were yet to be recovered from big power defaulters.
