Bollywood's legendary star Dev Anand has been made guest editor of the BBC's first Hindi language internet magazine, BBC Patrika. The 82-year-old actor and director, known as "the evergreen hero" of Indian film industry, said he was "pleasantly surprised" at the opportunity.

"I have always accepted challenges and I feel BBC Hindi Online has also been doing this all the time," Anand said in an interview with BBC news Website.

Anand would monitor the site from Indian city of Mumbai.

BBC Patrika, which features regional news along with original stories, poetry and interviews, will have a new guest editor every three months.
